House Speaker Michael Madigan plans to do what he did with concealed carry last night, again tomorrow, with PENSION REFORM!
Yesterday’s special order of business on guns began shortly after noon and lasted for almost nine hours.
Tomorrow’s special order of business likely will focus on “elements” of the pension reform issue, ie. things like cost of living adjustments will be debated. COMPLETELY ELIMINATING COLAs for retirees has been proposed in several amendments scheduled for debate tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Rep. Elaine Nekritz (D-Northbrook) and House Republican Leader Tom Cross plan to unveil a newly revised pension reform proposal today which creates a defined contribution/benefit Tier 3 for new employees, raises the retirement age for existing employees, and several other things that will be strenuously opposed.
