Crunch time in the Illinois General Assembly!!!
Chicago Police & Fire Pension Bill emerges in the Senate. Senate President Cullerton amended HB 3088 with Senate Floor Amendment 2 early this morning. The amendment which now becomes the bill passed out of the Executive Committee y a vote of 11-3. This bill will defer required payments by the City to its woefully underfunded police and fire pension funds by 7 years. The PBPA OPPOSED this legislation in committee and will continue to fight to insure adequate funding of our members pension benefits.
No action was taken by either chamber regarding State pension reform bills SB1 which we do NOT support OR SB 2404 which is SUPPORTED by the PBPA and the We Are One Coalition.
No action was taken today on HB 212 a bill which appropriates back pay due to our Conservation Police members and thousands of other state employees. The bill was posted in committee at 9:00 this morning and then unexpectedly deferred. We continue to work on this important funding bill.
The Senate also took up a new concealed carry bill this afternoon.
