To all the newly sworn in Illinois legislators,
Take seriously your oath of office. Work tirelessly to improve the lives of the people you have sworn to represent. Put you personal interest second to those you vow to serve. Serve the people not the businesses.
Personal fame, glory, and financial gain should not be your goal. Power can not be what draws you to public service. Look to the Hippocratic oath – Do no harm.
Good luck to you and may you be successful in what should be your goal, serving the working men and women of Illinois.
