This afternoon the Sangamon County Circuit Court heard argument on the motions filed by the We Are One Illinois coalition and other plaintiffs who argue that the Pension Protection Clause renders SB1 unconstitutional. At the outset, Judge Belz stated that he would not rule on the motions from the bench today but would make his rulings available tomorrow afternoon at 2:00pm.
If the Judge rules in favor of the coalition we anticipate that the Attorney General will immediately appeal his ruling to the Illinois Supreme Court.
