Dave Syverson

Do I support the Constitutional Amendment requiring a 3/5 vote to pass pension increases in the future?
The answer is yes… But please read on.

Understand that when legislators pass a bill, legislators the next year or in a future year can change or repeal that bill in all cases EXCEPT pensions.

With pensions the Courts have ruled decisions made by past legislators cannot be reduced by current or future legislators. This means pension votes can obligate taxpayers for 40 to 50 years. With that in mind shouldn’t there be a higher threshold met (3/5th vote) by legislators before passing future pension increases. I believe the answer is yes.
