Watch the news today and you see constant coverage of the tornados that destroyed hundreds of homes in central Illinois. All the reporters mention the emergency crews searching the wreckage for survivors. You see emergency lights in the background everywhere. They are first responders doing their jobs. They will work through the night doing a dangerous job. When they get released from duty and are allowed to go home they will then get to try to sort through the wreckage of their own homes.
It is these same first responders that our state politicians would like to blame for Illinois financial problems. These politicians want to diminish these first responders pension benefits.
First Responders earn their pensions the hard way. They are not the problem. So don’t let their pension be diminished.
