There is a direct attack on local Police & Fire Pension Boards this week in the House Personnel & Pensions Committee –
The committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday at 3:00pm.
Rep. Jeanne Ives (R-Wheaton) is pushing two bills HB 3375 and HB 3376 both of which attack the autonomy of our local Police & Fire Pension Boards by allowing Mayors to appoint additional political allies as trustees. Our pension Boards are balanced to give beneficiaries a fair and impartial hearing.
Rep Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) is alos pushing his bill HB 3377 which would allow a municipality to intervene in any proceeding involving a participant or a beneficiary that comes before the pension board.
THE PBPA IS ACTIVELY OPPOSING THESE BILLS –
AND YOU SHOULD TOO!!!
